Following the rains, twice a year, over two million wildebeests and zebras engage into one of the greatests spectacles on earth: The Serengeti-Mara migration. Among some of the many dangers and obstacles they face during their journey, is the crossing of the Mara river, in which hundreds of giant nile crocodiles await their arrival every year. Around 200 thousand animals died every year at the end of the migration, mostly the old, weak, and the very young, as a result to predation from large cats. disease, drowning, and starvation. The annual Great Wildebeest Migration was named as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in November 2006 by a panel of experts in America.
