VICTORIA FALLS

Named by Scottish explorer David Livingston in honor of queen Victoria. The original indigenous name of of the falls was Mosi-oa-Tunya, and is still the name in official use in Zambia. It is the largest waterfall, with a wdth of 1.7 kilometers (1 mile). It is located between the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and its waters come from the Zambezi river.
