During a three weeks trip to Antarctica in February of 2006, we visited a region known as "Antarctic Sound", also known as Iceberg Alley, located between the north tip of the Antarctic Peninsula and the three islands right off its coast, Dundee, Joinville, and D'Urville Islands. The ocean currents coming from the north and the south converge right in this short ocean stretch between these islands, trapping thousands of icebergs, specially giant tabular icebergs. The tranquil waters and glorious sunrise colors created the perfect scene for this composition.
